Sony Xperia T2 Ultra

The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra was released in May to heed the call of all Sony fanboys and fangirls for a mid-priced flagship device. What they delivered was a gigantic phablet with a 6-inch display. As they say, bigger is better because T2 truly measures up as one of the most-coveted Xperia Sony smartphones in the market, hence the “ultra” suffix. If you haven’t got it but are now thinking of getting yourself one for the holiday season, consider these specs first and see if it’s worth adding to your gadget repertoire.

Display

The main showcase of the T2 Ultra is its massive 6-inch Triluminos Capacitive IPS LCD. This is ultimately perfect for your multimedia enjoyment especially when playing videos and movies. However, it falls short in comparison to iPhone 6’s retina display because the former only has 720x1280 pixels (~245 ppi pixel density). Though personally, the 16M color display is vivid enough for me to enjoy HD videos.

Camera

With a 13 MP back camera, the T2 Ultra takes magnificent photos at 4128x3096 pixels. It also has auto-focus and LED flash to ensure crisp and vibrant results even in low-light conditions. In addition, the T2 Ultra also sports some awesome features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, sweep panorama, Time Burst Shooting, and most surprisingly, Augmented Reality. The video camera also shoots in crystal clear glory at 1080p@30fps. On the other hand, selfie maniacs would probably find the front camera’s 1.1-Megapixel quality inadequate for it comes out grainy most of the time.

Music and Audio

Sony has always been at the forefront of music players in the market. However, with T2 Ultra, they have taken a step back. The phone’s loudspeaker is ultimately its Achilles’ heel. Sound produced by the speakers lacks bass and loudness. On the other hand, music with earphones on bypasses this flaw because of Walkman’s impressive sound technology powered by Clear Audio+. Tested with benchmark earphones such as the iphone earbuds, T2 Music Experience can be of top-notch quality.

Memory and Hardware

Armed with Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 with 1 GB RAM, T2 Ultra competes with its contemporaries in the smartphone race. Minimum lags and very swift transitions between menus.

Battery Life

Another advantage of getting T2 ultra is its superior battery life! With its Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery, you can enjoy standby time of up to 1071 hours with (2G) and Up to 1046 hours with (3G). Talk time can last up to 14 hours with (2G) and up to 24 hours with (3G). Uninterrupted music play can last up to 93 hours!

Connectivity

Sony T2 Ultra is proudly giving its users the premium speed of LTE with blazing rates of up to LTE Cat4 150/50 Mbps. Wow, that’s really fast internet connection!

In general, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra is a great buy considering its price and super-sized screen with lots of great features. It has its fair share of pros and cons as expected on a mid-range device.
